A Unique Opportunity to purchase one of BMW’s Finest creations, the Z3M Coupe.

When looking back some fourteen years ago when the Coupé was first released, it didn’t follow the regular story of “lets design a car that we know will sell.”
Instead, there appeared to be an almost urban myth, of a handful of engineers who quietly led a Z3 prototype away into a forgotten corner, and there set to work to design what we have today. It was rumoured that when these engineers showed the finished product to Wolfgang Reitzle, the engineering and marketing boss, there was a Prolonged Silence…

Apparently even BMW themselves admitted that not everyone was going to like this new creation, which makes you admire the courage it must have taken to create it, and are we Thankful that they did!

When reading over the first reviews when released in 1998, Car magazine mentioned:

“I like the long roof, which resembles something filched from a 60’s Le Mans car. I like the clean tailgate, and the way the coupé does away with the apologetically drooping tail. The low view from the back is mad, all huge tyres and fat tailpipes and cooling fins on the diff. And in a world where everyone is pushing the front windscreen towards the front bumper, here’s a shape that is definitely cab- backwards, the bonnet stretched impossibly long and the driver squeezed back over the rear wheels.”

The Ariel’s critics noted furthermore..

‘..The latest Atom 2 includes a Japanese derived Honda Civic Type-R iVTEC 2·0-litre engine which produces a healthy 220bhp and six-speed gearbox in place of the original’s Rover K-series powertrain. Combined with the Atom’s sub-1,100lb weight, Honda does for Ariel what Ford did for Lotus in the 1970s and Rover did for TVR in the 1990s, which is to help provide more performance than you could find anywhere else for the money.’

This car really is something Special, and in Exceptional order too. It’s previous owner had looked at no fewer than 8 examples before purchasing this one, and had travelled throughout the UK to find it.
